Ministries: Children's
programs

FUMC Sevierville's Christian
education program for children begins at birth and
extends through 6th grade (7th graders join our
youth program).
Babies are lovingly cared for in our new Christian
Education Building equipped with a well staffed

familiar face every Sunday and will associate going
to church with fun, games, and good people.
We offer a wide variety of
activities for children: Sunday
School, nursery,
missions,
choirs,
Vacation Bible School,
Wednesday Alive, child care,
and camping opportunities. Click

Children's Focus
on Missions
We believe it
is good to help children experience the
joy of giving and helping others. For
this reason, we introduce them to
positive mission-supporting experiences
at a young age. For example, our
children support:
- Women's Care
Center
- Sevier County
Food Ministry
- Angel Tree

Child
Care Ministries
Child Care Ministries offers Mothers Day
Out, a Tuesday and Thursday 9:30 am –
2:30 pm program, for parents to leave
their pre-school children in a Christian
caring child-centered atmosphere for a
“day-out” at a reasonable cost.
The program began in 1979
underwritten by the First United
Methodist Church of Sevierville. It
continues today under the direction of a
board appointed by the church. The
church regards the program as an
outreach ministry and has expanded the
programs to include a kindergarten
readiness class (Explorers) and a summer
educational enrichment(S.E.E.) class for
grades 1-4 In July 1994 the board
voted to combine all these classes under
the formal name of Child Care
Ministries.
The program operates
with a director and ten caregivers per
day. This staff is committed to the
goals of the program and the children
they teach.
There are classes for
Nursery (9 months), Toddlers, Two Year
Olds, Three Year Olds, Four Year Olds
(Explorers), and the summer program. The
curriculum for each age group is soundly
based on the emotional, physical, and
mental developmental needs of the
children with modifications for
individuals as needed.
