Ministries: Prayer
John Wesley considered prayer an
essential part of Christian living, calling it the
most important "means of grace." Christians are to
pray constantly, without ceasing (1 Thessalonians
5:17). He wrote in
A Plain Account of Christian Perfection
that: "Whether we think of; or speak to, God,
whether we act or suffer for him, all is prayer,
when we have no other object than his love, and
the desire of pleasing him. All that a Christian
does, even in eating and sleeping, is
prayer, when it is done in simplicity,
according to the order of God, without
either adding to or diminishing from it by
his own choice."
FUMC Sevierville carries on the
Wesley tradition by supporting our members through
our Prayer Ministry. We encourage the expansion of personal prayer, keep
prayer and concerns lists
enabling us to pray for each other, and maintain a
Prayer Chain that focuses the
power of prayer where we it is needed. If you need a
little help through prayer, or know someone who
does, please call the church office at 865-453-5754,
submit it to us through our
online form, or
e-mail it to us. You may also want to consider
sending it to the Upper Room
Living Prayer Center described below. |

Have you ever needed prayer in
your life? Have you endured hurts, illness, and
even deaths of loved ones and felt unable to
pray? This is the function of the prayer
chain. We join together, church wide, in praying
for those who are in need of your prayers. As
Christ lifted us up in prayer, we lift each other
as we ask for grace and comfort that only our
Lord can bring us. Have no hesitation to ask
for prayer; sometimes that is all we can do when
someone is in need, but that is truly the most
loving act we can perform for each other. Pray
often, pray earnestly, and join us in the Prayer
Chain. If you would like to become a
participant in the prayer chain, please contact
the church office or Norma Blair.
