Ministries: Scouting programs

FUMC Sevierville is pleased to host active programs for both the Boy and Girl Scouts of America. Both of these organizations are dedicated to helping our young people develop their potential, experience new perspectives, and reach beyond themselves to the world beyond. Both also value reverence and service to God and country as seen below in their oaths and promises. For these reasons, FUMC is happy to support our troops!

Boy Scout Troop 110

FUMC is pleased to host Troop 110 of the Great Smoky Mountain Council of Boy Scouts. Troop 110 is a very active, community service-oriented troop for 5th through 12th graders. (Programs are available for boys as young as 1st grade. Several of these dens meet at FUMC.)

Troop 110 meets at the church every Tuesday, year round, from 7:00–8:30 pm. For more information on this troop, contact Shawn Breeden at 654-2087, visit the troop's website at www.troop110.com, or visit the website of the Great Smoky Mountain Council.

Boy Scout mission

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Scout Oath

On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.

Scout Law

A Scout is:
Trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, reverent.

Troops 265 & 925

FUMC is pleased to host two Girl Scout troops. Troop 265 is a Brownie/Junior Troop (grades 2 through 6) that meets every other Monday during the school year from 3:30 – 5:00 pm. Troop 925 is a Cadette/Senior troop (grades 7 through 12) that meets the same days from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. These troops focus on performing community service, earning badges, taking trips, and having fun.

For more information on these troops, contact Sheron Duckworth at 865-428-0329. For information about Girl Scouting in general, contact Gina of the Tanasi Council.

Girl Scout mission

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

The Girl Scout Promise

On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

The Girl Scout Law

I will do my best to be honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and to respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.
